The consecration of an Armenian Khachkar (Cross-stone) on the grounds of the Temple of Peace in Cardiff on November 3rd, 2007 for the memory of the victims of the 1915 Genocide of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey was a landmark event, since this is the first time such a monument is built on public soil in the UK. The permission was granted by the Cardiff City Council. The building of the monument done by Welsh stonemason following an Armenian design was made possible by Welsh Armenian John Torossian. |
