Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in London

"Armenia: Land of Culture" Exhibition opens at the Royal Geographical Society

2 March, 2009. An exhibition of photographs and lettering, entitled "Armenia: Land of Culture" opened at the Royal Geographic Society. Over 70 high quality photos depict the scenic beauty of the Republic of Armenia and some of the mostly medieval architectural masterpieces, particularly Churches and khachkars (carved cross-stones), those that are located within the borders of today's Armenia.

The exhibition was opened by H.E. Dr. Vahe Gabrielyan, Armenia's Ambassador to the Court of St. James's who spoke of the importance of the Armenian alphabet - created by St. Mesrop Mashtots in 405AD - in the cultural identity of the Armenian people.

The evening was well-attended by representatives of the UK and local governments, Ambassadors accredited in London and other diplomats, the artistic and Armenian communities.

The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in London, in conjunction with  Pro Art & Co, the AGBU (Armenian General Benevolent Union) London Trust and the Armenian National Chamber of Letters.
