On March 9, 2009 Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan met former UK Prime Minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher and handed a Letter of Acknowledgment from Mr. Tigran Sargsyan, Prime Minister of Armenia for her contribution to the rescue efforts, eliminating of the consequences, and to the reconstruction activities following the devastating earthquake of December 7, 1988 in the Republic of Armenia. Lady Thatcher accepted the Letter of Acknowledgment with gratitude, noting that it was a great honour for her to receive it from the Armenian Government. During a friendly chat with the Ambassador, Lady Thatcher took interest in the current situation in Armenia, the challenges that the country faces. Ambassador invited lady Thatcher to visit Armenia once again.
